Dear creation, a message from your Creator.

Lessons from Psalm 139.

The other day, I was requested to preach on a debut celebration of our Youth Pastor. I was supposed to preach on John 3:16 since I already got a manuscript for it, given the very short time to prepare. But I felt the need to speak something relevant so I spoke from the birthday psalm: Psalm 139.

God knows everything about you – your strengths, weakness, secret desires, dark struggles, past mistakes, present frustrations, and even the uncertain future.

1ย You have searched me,ย Lord,
ย ย ย ย and you knowย me.
2ย You know when I sit and when I rise;
ย ย ย ย you perceive my thoughtsย from afar.
3ย You discern my going outย and my lying down;
ย ย ย ย you are familiar with all my ways.
4ย Before a word is on my tongue
ย ย ย ย you,ย Lord, know it completely.
5ย You hem me inย behind and before,
ย ย ย ย and you lay your hand upon me.
6ย Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
ย ย ย ย too loftyย for me to attain.

God holds the world in the palm of His hand. He holds the deepest depths and He owns the highest heights. Wherever you are and however far you would like to go, that place is under the authority of God almighty.

In darkness He is light; in distress, He is rest.

He holds everything; you can find rest in Him.

7ย
Where can I go from your Spirit?
ย ย ย ย Where can I fleeย from your presence?
8ย If I go up to the heavens,ย you are there;
ย ย ย ย if I make my bedย in the depths, you are there.
9ย If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
ย ย ย ย if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10ย even there your hand will guide me,
ย ย ย ย your right handย will hold me fast.
11ย If I say, โ€œSurely the darkness will hide me
ย ย ย ย and the light become night around me,โ€
12ย even the darkness will not be darkย to you;
ย ย ย ย the night will shine like the day,
ย ย ย ย for darkness is as light to you.

God created you with a purpose.

Along with the embroidery of who you are, God has weaved in you your talents, strength, abilities, and giftings. And as He weaved all those, He has knitted in your heart of hearts your purpose, meaning, and essence.

13ย For you created my inmost being;
ย ย ย ย you knit me togetherย in my motherโ€™s womb.
14ย I praise youย because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
ย ย ย ย your works are wonderful,
ย ย ย ย I know that full well.
15ย My frame was not hidden from you
ย ย ย ย when I was madeย in the secret place,
ย ย ย ย when I was woven togetherย in the depths of the earth.
16ย Your eyes saw my unformed body;
ย ย ย ย all the days ordainedย for me were written in your book
ย ย ย ย before one of them came to be.
17ย How precious to me are your thoughts,[a]ย God!
ย ย ย ย How vast is the sum of them!
18ย Were I to count them,
ย ย ย ย they would outnumber the grains of sandโ€”
ย ย ย ย when I awake,ย I am still with you.
